ACTIVITIES

Accommodation George Garden Route

Beaches - If you would like to go to the beach, our local bay - Victoria Bay - is definitely the best! On any coast line in the world, I dare you to find a swimming beach that can equal the beauty, swimming and surfing qualities of Vic Bay!   With only a few houses, it is a non-commercial beach and weather wise... the best of the best! Green grass to lie on, whales in season, dolphins year round, excellent surf - a definite must!

Visit the Outeniqua Transport Museum and the Outeniqua Power Van takes you up the Outeniqua Mountain and halfway up Cradock Peak where you can enjoy your picnic in the wild.

Do some church hopping and visit the:

Dutch Reformed Church just opposite our house. It possesses some of the most stunning architecture in George. The pulpit is magnificent and made of Stinkwood.  The roof, floor and benches are of Yellowwood.

Visit the Congregational Church in Pacaltsdorp - built by the interesting Reverent Pacalt in the 1800's and stop at the Anglican Church in York Street with its beautiful and historic windows.

Outeniqua Hop is a route through our scenic farmlands, where you can visit a strawberry farm, see how they make cheese or visit the breweries, visit a dairy farm and see how a computerized dairy organize the cows for milking or artificial insemination!

George is in the centre of all activities in the Garden Route! To travel from here is quite easy;

To the west is Mossel Bay: You may want to dare yourself and go shark cage diving, bungee jumping or sea life on Seal Island. On your way home stop for a game drive or swim at the Herolds Bay.

To the north is Oudtshoorn where you should visit the world famous Cango Caves, ride an ostrich, but definitely not a croc on the other farm!! Stunning mountain passes all around you.

To the east is Wilderness and Knysna where you can indulge yourself in extreme sport like paragliding or abseiling. Wonderful trails for hikers next to the lagoon, the river, forest or sea where you can kayak, canoe or just enjoy the outdoors. Do your shopping in Knysna at The Waterfront, head home back to George and come and enjoy your evenings at Acorn Guest House!
