GOLF
George and the Garden Route have become
the golf mecca on the continent.
George Golf Course, Colin's personal favourite, is rated
in the top 20 in South Africa, and due to our excellent
weather conditions, this stunning park-lands course is
playable year round.
Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate boasts 3 of the
best courses in South Africa and was home of the
President's Cup 2003 and the first Women's World Cup of
Golf during February 2005. Unfortuanately you have to stay to play, let us book at Fancourt for you before or after your stay with us.
A few
new courses have been added of late, these include Ernie
Els' Oubaai Golf Estate and the challanging Kingswood Golf Estate in George.
Some of the other courses in the area include the
wind-swept course in Mossel Bay, to the harsh dry,
semi-desert conditions in Oudtshoorn and then the
majestic views of Simola and Pezula Golf Estates in Knysna. It is
possible to experience a range of different climates and
courses in the area!
Colin, a keen golfer himself, can arrange
advance bookings at most of the golf courses, which have
become essential during the peak summer seasons from
November to April each year.

George Golf Club
Voted one of the best courses in a recent survey by
the Golf Digest Magazine. This is my top
recommendation with long narrow fairways and easy
rough. Bookings are essential.
Wednesday and Saturday afternoons are reserved for
competitions.

In the design of the Oubaai 18-hole Championship
Golf Course and Driving Range, Ernie Els and his
team have taken full advantage of the spectacular
site they are working with. Furthermore, they have
the full support of Nicklaus Design as Technical
Advisors. Nicklaus Design is the privately held
company of golf legend Jack Nicklaus and the
Nicklaus family.

Extreme heat conditions make this course a tough one
and is best to play in the winter.
Make sure you visit the ostrich farms while in
Oudtshoorn.

A feast of water, located adjacent to the famous
Knysna Lagoon, with teeming bird life. Easy walking
with wonderful tree-lined fairways.
Competitions are held on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
and Saturday afternoons. Tee off before 11:00 a.m.
on competition days.
Knysna is popular tourist town, so course requires
advance bookings.

Plettenberg Bay Golf Club
Plett can be called the Riviera of South Africa and is a
very beautiful town. The Piesang River is a
feature of this course.
Afternoon competitions are scheduled for most days

Located atop a hill overlooking Knysna, the lagoon
and the Atlantic Ocean. Certainly one of the most
beautiful courses in this country very
challenging, so take a good supply of balls.
Although a private club, management allows
non-members on a space availability basis. Advanced
